November Currently

Holy smokes, it's been a whole month since I posted last. Yikes :/ I need to be better about getting on here and writing; school has just been so hectic lately with week after week of essays to grade. Once one class is done, another class has essays coming in.

But for now, linking up with Farley for the Currently.

Listening...Songza is my new Pandora. I love it. It classifies music according to activities you are doing, moods you are in, etc. It's awesome. If you love Pandora, you should check out Songza.

Loving...We just got home from a weekend visiting family, and he is taking care of getting the stuff unloaded from the car, going to the store, etc., while I snuggle up on the couch in my sweats and play on my computer. He is awesome.

Thinking....It felt more like winter than fall this weekend with lows in the 20s and highs in the 40s. Too soon, winter. Too soon.

Wanting...Though the weekend was fun, it was busy, and I wish I had one more day to just lay around and do nothing before the work week starts again.

Needing...Whenever we take a weekend trip, I usually live out of my suitcase for an embarrassing amount of time. So, you know, I should probably unpack tonight.

Reading....Two things. I am re-reading Gatsby as I am about to start teaching it again. For fun, I'm reading Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, since I liked her other two books.

  1. I'm not ready for this cold weather either. Should hit freezing tonight!
Is Gillian Flynn the author of Gone Girl? I had a love-hate relationship with that book! I was blown away by how crazily creative it was, but I hated the characters! Guess she was successful if she aroused that kind of emotion in me, huh?!

    1. Yes, Gillian Flynn wrote Gone Girl. I loved it! I really enjoyed the movie, too. I also disliked some of the characters in it.

  2. Yikes! It's crazy how much the weather has turned in the past week or so. Last week it was 85 by 4:00, and now it's 40. Maybe that's why my allergies are acting up...

What do you think of Sharp Objects so far? I was on the fence about it, but that seems to be the way I feel about all of her books. There were some subtly woven thoughts in Sharp Objects that I appreciated, but her stuff is just so crazy and dark, I'm not sure if I can 100% love it. I will say, however, that her writing of the screenplay of Gone Girl made it the ONLY movie-based-on-a-book that I've actually enjoyed.

    1. I am liking Sharp Objects so far. I don't mind dark books or movies--suspense/thriller is probably my favorite genre. I totally agree that Gone Girl is probably the best book-to-movie transition I've seen.

  3. I always feel like I need an extra day after a weekend trip; a vacation from my vacation :) Good luck with that! ;)

  5. It IS too cold...of course VA is a little different, but I feel like most of us just skipped right from summer weather to winter weather without much of a Fall at all :(
